Nick and Jannah first met 8 years ago. Nick had become friends with Jannah’s older brothers – they surfed together down at Ocean Grove (a beautiful surf town about 1 hour south of Melbourne). And Nick still remembers that very first time they met at Jannah’s parent’s house – she made Pad Thai and he loved it. But it wasn’t love, that was going to take a little longer.
In 2011, Jannah needed some housemates and Nick needed a house, so he moved in. But their love still wasn’t to blossom, they both needed to feel what life was like without each other before that happened. There was 3 years of sharing a space before Nick moved out and realised that something was missing. He kept coming back to visit and gently hinted to her that there could be more, but Jannah still didn’t take the bait. It was only a night where Nick self admittedly had a few too many glasses of red and asserted that they would be married one day before the tide shifted. Three months later they were official and from there, it wasn’t too much longer until we got to that beautiful day where Nick’s claim of being married one day became a reality.
But through all of this, someone knew better – Jannah’s grandmother is 88 years old, she’s a radiant woman with wisdom to match her years. At her 80th birthday, she’d commented to her grandson (Jannah’s brother) that his friend Nick was “such a lovely boy” and that he would be perfect for Jannah. It seems she was right all along.
